Dr. Bronner’s soaps are wonderful for washing pets, especially dogs. (For cats, you have to be a little more careful. Many essential oils can be toxic to cats, especially tea tree, lavender and peppermint oils. So for cats, as for babies, your best bet is to use one of the Unscented Baby-Mild varieties.)
What are the “18-in-1” uses?
You can use Dr. Bronner’s soaps for washing your face, body, hands and hair, for bathing, shaving, brushing your teeth, rinsing fruit, aromatherapy, washing dishes by hand, doing laundry, mopping floors, all-purpose cleaning, washing windows, scrubbing toilets, washing dogs, controlling dust mites, and killing ants and aphids. Now, that’s eighteen uses right there, but customers mentioned over time about many more uses they have found for these soaps.
They say 18-in-1 uses but basically it is all in one. it has endless amounts of positive and healthy uses... It is a simple answer to many of the cancerous chemically induced commercial products available to us today and in the future. It will help open eyes and raise some very important questions.... Like one of the most obvious queries we are hoping to demonstrate... if colloidal silver, calcium bentonite clay and castile soap are so good... then why do we need all the rest of the competition?
What are the precautions?
Castile soaps clean hair very well, but they can leave a tangly look and feel. If this is the case, use Dr Broner's conditioning rinse to tamp down the cuticles in your hair and give it a smooth and silky after feel.
Dr. Bronner’s soaps are exceptionally mild and safe for babies, however they are not tear-free, so it’s important to be very careful and make sure that the soap does not get in your baby’s eyes (or yours either!).
Most tear-free formulations on the market use some kind of synthetic numbing agent.

What's the deal with Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds Liquid Cleaner?
Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds Liquid Cleaneris not a soap but instead is a concentrated hard-surface all-purpose cleaner. It is made with plant-based surfactants and natural fir needle and spruce essential oils (no cheap, harsh pine stump oil), without any synthetic dyes, fragrances or preservatives. Perfect for general household cleaning (dishes, floors, laundry, etc.), it cleans and rinses with exceptional power, yet it is mild and gentle on the skin. Sal Suds Liquid Cleaner is equally effective in hard or soft water, rinsing freely, hot or cold. It is 100% cruelty-free, as certified by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics, and it will biodegrade rapidly after doing its job.
What are the ingredients in Dr Bronners Castile Soap?
Main Soap Ingredients
Fair Trade & Organic Coconut Oil
Fair Trade & Organic Coconut Oil reacts with Potassium Hydroxide (for our liquid soaps) or Sodium Hydroxide (for our bar soaps) to create soap. Because it is composed of medium-chain fatty acids, Fair Trade & Organic Coconut Oil gives our soaps lots of bubbles and foam.
Fair Trade & Organic Palm Kernel Oil
Fair Trade & Organic Palm Kernel Oil is used in our liquid soaps together with coconut oil, where it functions identically to create a rich and copious lather. Our Fair Trade & Organic Palm Kernel Oil is sustainably harvested in Ecuador, ensuring that no new deforestation occurs and that no orangutan habitats are harmed.
Fair Trade & Organic Palm Oil
Fair Trade & Organic Palm Oil reacts with Sodium Hydroxide in our bar soaps to create a solid (harder) soap. Our Fair Trade & Organic Palm Oil is sustainably harvested from long-standing palm plantations in Ghana, ensuring that no new deforestation occurs and that no orangutan habitats are harmed.
Fair Trade & Organic Olive Oil
Fair Trade & Organic Olive Oil reacts with Potassium Hydroxide (for our liquid soaps) or Sodium Hydroxide (for our bar soaps) to create soap. Because it is composed of long-chain fatty acids, Fair Trade & Organic Olive Oil gives our soaps an exceptionally soft lather.
Organic Hemp Oil
In our liquid soaps, Organic Hemp Oil is turned into soap when reacted with Potassium Hydroxide. In our bar soaps, it is added after saponification to “superfat” the soaps. In both our liquid and bar soaps, the Organic Hemp Oil gives them a delightfully smooth feel.
Organic Jojoba Oil
In our liquid soaps, Organic Jojoba Oil is turned into soap when reacted with Potassium Hydroxide. In our bar soaps, it is added after saponification to “superfat” the soaps. Because it closely resembles the oils naturally produced by our skin, Organic Jojoba Oil helps to make our soaps more moisturizing.
Potassium Hydroxide
Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) is an alkali which reacts with vegetable oils to produce soap, water and glycerin in our liquid soaps. The Potassium Hydroxide is completely used up in the reaction, and none remains in the final product.
Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) is an alkali which reacts with vegetable oils to produce soap, water and glycerin in our bar soaps. The Sodium Hydroxide is completely used up in the reaction, and none remains in the final product.
Citric Acid
Citric Acid is used in our soaps to adjust the pH level and help “superfat” them, making them more moisturizing. The Citric Acid used in our soaps is Non-GMO verified.
Tocopherol
Tocopherol (Vitamin E) acts as a natural antioxidant in our soaps, helping to give them a longer shelf life. The Tocopherolused in our products is Non-GMO verified.
Sea Salt
Sea Salt is used in our bar soaps to harden them and give them a longer shelf life.
Water
In our liquid soaps, Water keeps our soaps liquid. In our bar soaps, it acts as a binder for ingredients. The Water is purified to remove any minerals that might react with the other ingredients in our soaps.
Soap Fragrances
Mentha Piperita
Mentha Piperita is the Latin name for peppermint oil, and our Fair Trade & Organic Mentha Piperita Oil is part of what gives our Peppermint Soaps their famous tingle.

Mentha Arvensis is commonly known as “field mint” or “wild mint.” We distill its extract into an almost pure menthol, which we then add to our Peppermint Soaps, giving them an extra mint boost.
Lavandin Extract
Lavandin is a species of lavender, and Lavandin Extract is used with Lavender Extract to give our Lavender Soaps their aromatic lavender scent.
Lavender Extract
Lavender Extract is used in combination with Lavandin Extract to scent our Lavender Soaps.
Organic Eucalyptus Oil
Organic Eucalyptus Oil is used to give our Eucalyptus Soaps their fantastic scent.
